See the light, from colour to monochrome
On this page are examples of the original colour images straight from Raw, no editing has been done to them, the same image is shown again after monochrome conversion to show what can be achieved using the methods described on this site.
What to look for in a landscape is not just the scene in front of you but more importantly the “light”, this has a dramatic effect on the landscape, I find the best times to shoot are early morning and late evening when the sun is low and shadows are long, shooting into the light is a method I prefer, this type of lighting gives depth, texture, deep blacks, clean whites and luminosity to a scene.
